General question ... I suppose I could pay the $50 for Tech Support to have them validate my recent upgrade and fix my non-functioning SE PHP BLOG plug-in?

We don't offer a service to validate upgrades but if you sent a ticket we could check your issue. However, if it's server related, or customization issue we couldn't fix that. All we can do is check for errors and see what we find in general. If you still have an issue with your blog plugin related to your other post, please update in that thread in order to keep it together and help resolve issues.
Just so there isn't any misunderstanding, I am not trying to discourage you from getting support. I just didn't want you to think you had to buy support instead of trying to troubleshoot here. Especially if the issue is with the server or any third party stuff or customizations as we don't cover those.
