Uploading Videos in SE PHP instead of linking it from vimeo

Hi, I am creating a community using Social Engine PHP. Unfortunately, the videos plugin allows only linking videos from 3rd party sites like Vimeo instead of uploading the Video directly onto my site.

Is this how SE PHP works or am I missing something here?

Hi, I've moved this to the correct forum section for Help and Tips. Please read this tutorial for the video app in order to enable video uploads from your (or your member's) computer instead of only video share sites. Note you need to upgrade if you only see Vimeo as an option as there are hundreds of video sites to choose from.

@Bushan you need to get ffmpeg setup and configured on your server. That will allow uploading videos even with the standard SE video plugin.

But if you need something more advanced (like video streaming or conversion to different formats) - check Media Projects plugin http://bit.ly/se_media

Thanks Eugene. Looks like my Hosting Provider does not allow setting up of FFMPEG.

@Donna, I have a long term contract with this Hosting provider, but they do allow FFMPEG setup... I have a different domain with another Hosting vendor - will check if they allow FFMPEG installation. Can I have the Keys changed for another domain instead of the current domain.

Meanwhile, how can I set up a Development Environment? Can I use the same Key or will you provide another key for Dev Environment?

I'm not clear on what you want to do. If you want to move your site to another server, you can follow the tutorial for that, https://support.socialengine.com/php/customer/en/portal/articles/2019547-moving-your-website-to-another-server?b_id=14386 . You can change the domain in your account dashboard if you are also changing domains. There is another forum thread for tips for changing domains so you might want to check that thread.

There is a forum thread for setting up a development environment too with details on license issues. I will see if I can find both threads.
