I wish to be able to email a group of members as admin.

Right now any member of a group can message all members of the group.  I don't want this because the group will contain thousands of people and don't want people from the group to spam others.  Is there anyway to allow admin to mail everyone but switch off the function allowing any group member to do the same?  Alternatively is there any other way for admin to be able to send a message to a large group of members any other way?

I don't see any way to change that for Groups. As for sending messages to a large group of members, you could use a newsletter plugin but I don't know if any of them connect to Groups. It would probably be a site newsletter.

What newsletter plugins can you recommend?  Do any of them allow you to make several mailing lists?  I would then use this as a way to email people from a district.

I see a few https://www.socialengine.com/marketplace/search?search=newsletter but you should ask the experts who made them to see if they do what you need.

Hello cmakie: You can checkout our "Group Communities Plugin". In this plugin group owners can send message to all the group members at once. For any other doubt, please contact our sales team from here: http://socialenginesolutions.com/tickets/
