Please support when developing location related plugins.
It's weaker than the Google Maps service, but it can solve the pressure of Google payments.
Facebook is also using the Open Street Map service.
Our country has benefited a lot by using openstreetmap services for virus tracking (saving a lot of lives).
This is a good idea as some countries ban google and also, for those that don't like the spying that google does it might be a better option.

I never heard of Open street map..
I just checked it out.. I really like it...
Like most people i use google, but more often google is out of date... For example, my house on google has a tree in the front yard with grass...
Thing is, ive not had a tree or grass in my front yard for 8 years. Also many streets dont exist anymore.
But still good to get a general idea what planet im on.

This is in the third party feature requests to it is waiting for a third party expert to chime in that they want to make it. Perhaps point your favorite third party experts to this thread so they see that there are clients wanting this integration.
Smart idea Donna! I may ask SES we are working very well together since close to be 2 months and they are amazing.
I would say that's a great idea.They can see that they might have three sales of such a product already. Not a guarantee of sales but it's better than developing blind with no idea of any sales.

We strongly support to integrate the Open Street Map API to the Socail Engine Core as an option. We are trying to advocate our sites as a much more secure and safe option to the existing social platforms. Yet we have to use Google Maps Api for the location functions. actually, we tested with our developer Open Street Map and https://leafletjs.com scripts, it worked well with our current plugins but each time new codes should be updated with the new plugins, which is not practical. We will support such free location features if such options are added to the SE core via crowd funding.
