This feature request is forum the generic topic icon shown to the left of each topic in the topic list of a forum (e.g. see https://community.socialengine.com/forums/8) with the topic creators profile image and their username shown below it.
This makes it easier for users to track their forum topics and doesn't waste any extra screen space. It also would make the forums look more 'dynamic'.
There would need to be another way of showing pinned posts though (color change?)
We would need to think more on that Pinned post if we do this as color blind clients have issues. This is why we had to add the underline for links - they were not able to see links in the posts. I never knew until we got complaints.
Background color of the whole topic? Color-blind users would be able to detect the contrast difference if not the color.
Or maybe an extra icon/ emoticon /uncode symbol displayed to the left of the topic, e.g.

becomes (with emoticon)

or (with unicode pin)

Closed topics would also need an icon, for example (using unicode):
