SocialEngine comes with Iframely integration to make shared links display much better. Our integration works with the 'Add Link' feature for the Activity Feed and enhances links shared by the community. It also allows you to enable video sharing from sites such as Vimeo, Facebook, and many more. To see a full list of sites that Iframely offers, please view this page.
With our Iframely integration, you have two choices to enable it: hosted by Iframely (at their rates with your Iframely account); self-hosted on your server.
To enable Iframely, log into your Admin Panel and navigate to Settings > Iframely Integration.
You’ll see two options to choose from:
Yes, I want to use API hosted by Iframely. - if you select this option, you will use the API hosted by Iframely. When you set up your Iframely account and choose the pricing level that you want, they will give you an API Key. Add that key to the input box that opens when you choose this option in your SocialEngine settings. You can secure your key to just your domain as well. Documentation and help can be found at iframely.
Yes, I want to host API on my own server using the opensource version - if you choose this option, you’ll need to follow the instructions provided by Iframely for setting up and securing your server. Once you do that, you’ll need to enter the Iframely Base Url in your SocialEngine settings. You will need a developer to help with configuration and maintenance if you aren’t able to do it yourself.
